Father ‘slaughters’ 3 daughters in Cox’s Bazar
A father said to have slaughtered his three minor daughters following a family feud concerning extramarital affair at Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar early today.
The deceased were Ayasha Siddika, 11, Shibu Jannat Shewly, 9, and one and a half years old, Tahura Jannat, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent quoting police.
The murders, that took place around 2:30am early today, sprouted from family feud, Probhat Chandra Dhar, officer-in-charge of local Chakaria police station, said.
As he described quoting neighbours, the father, Abdul Gani, is a man who lives in the house of his father-in-law and got into an extramarital affair with another woman.
"Last night Gani got into a fight with his wife Fatema Begum, 32. At one point the fight turned violent. He swooped on his three daughters with sharp weapons. The wife ran away and took shelter in a nearby house."
Gani managed to flee, leaving his three daughters killed on the spot, the OC added.
On information, Masud Alam, senior assistant superintendent of Cox's Bazar Sadar police visited the spot and stressed for initiating necessary legal measures.
Police recovered the bodies and were sending those to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy until last reported this morning.
