Pro-BNP UZ chairman suspended

The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives on Wednesday suspended Chatmohar Upazila Parishad chairman Hasadul Islam Hira as he was charge-sheeted in a criminal case for vandalising vehicles and carrying out subversive activities during a hartal.

Hira, also local government affairs secretary of Pabna district unit of BNP, said he will go for legal battle against the suspension order.

Chatmohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Shafikul Islam said, "We received the ministry's order for suspension of upazila parishad chairman Hira on Wednesday. Earlier a Pabna court accepted a charge sheet against him under case No 5, dated 08/05/2013, for vandalising CNG auto-rickshaw during a hartal."
