Mosharraf Karim to chair Babhasi Int’l Film Festival jury
Popular actor Mosharraf Karim is set to serve as a film festival judge for the first time in his career. He has been appointed chief juror for the Babhasi International Film Festival 2026, a joint initiative of Bangladesh, India and Singapore.
According to the organisers, 75 films from different countries have been submitted for this year’s festival. After the initial screening, 52 films were selected for the first round. The jury will then choose the best 16 films for the next stage before narrowing the list to seven finalists, who will compete for the festival’s top awards.
Speaking about his new role, Mosharraf Karim said that although the title of judge sounds simple, the responsibility is a challenging one. He added that he always tries to perform every task with sincerity and dedication.
He also described Babhasi as an important platform for discovering and supporting emerging talent. Thanking the organising committee for their trust, the actor said he was honoured to take on the responsibility for the first time in his career.
The festival will present awards in several categories, including Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Producer, Best Actor, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Lyrics, Best Background Score and Best Make-up. The winners of the first, second and third prizes will be selected following the jury’s final evaluation.
