Stars take social media back to the ’80s and ’90s

A retro trend has taken over social media, with popular stars recreating the fashion, hairstyles and makeup of the 80s and 90s through AI-generated photographs.

The trend has drawn praise from fans, while the nostalgic looks have sparked discussion online. Some stars have recreated the styles of popular heroes and heroines of the era, while others have given the period’s fashion a contemporary twist.

Actress Purnima joined the trend with a photograph on Facebook. Sharing the picture, she wrote, “New trend.”


Actor Apurba posted a picture of himself sitting on a motorcycle in an 80s-inspired look. “What being an actor in the 80’s used to mean…” he wrote.


Actress Bhabna also embraced the trend with an 80s-inspired look. “Me in the 80’s — in a vintage mood, in an eternal charm,” she wrote alongside the photograph.


The mood of the era was also reflected in a picture shared by actor Tawsif Mahbub. “From some afternoon in the 80’s,” he wrote.


Puja Chery shared her own take on the 80s trend, captioning the photograph, “Just did it.”


Safa Kabir, who played Dr Irine in the web film “Chaa Gorom”, also appeared in an 80s-inspired look. AI was used to give the makeup, setting and overall appearance an old-world touch.


Actress Tama Mirza joined the trend with a retro-style photograph, writing, “Following the trend.”
 


Masuma Rahman Nabila has also shared photographs inspired by the fashion and aesthetics of the 80s and 90s, adding to the growing wave of retro-inspired posts by the country’s stars.
