This time, the FIFA World Cup 2026 is being jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. FIFA is organising separate opening ceremonies in all three host countries, along with special celebrations in Houston and Philadelphia on July 4 to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence. The organisation has already finalised a lineup of international artistes for the opening matches across the three nations.

Bangladeshi-American DJ Sanjoy is among the featured performers and will appear in the United States’ opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on June 12, where the US will face Paraguay. The main stage will also feature global stars such as Katy Perry and BLACKPINK’s Lisa.

Confirming the news, Sanjoy said, “From dreaming of such moments in life to becoming part of that stage today—it feels unbelievable. As the child of an immigrant, reaching the world’s biggest stage from my home studio is truly something special.”

He added, “This is not just my personal achievement. It represents all those young people who have grown up between two different cultures and have believed that their voice can reach far and wide.”

Sanjoy has already gained recognition across South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America through his music.

Canada will also take the field on the same day as the United States. In Toronto, ahead of their match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, performances will be given by Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette, and Alessia Cara.

Meanwhile, the tournament officially kicks off on June 11 in Mexico at Estadio Azteca, where Mexico will face South Africa. The ceremony there will feature Maná, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, and Tyla.

Across all three host nations, several other international artistes are set to perform, including J Balvin, Anitta, Danny Ocean, Elyanna, and Vegedream.

To encourage early stadium attendance, FIFA will begin the opening ceremonies 90 minutes before kickoff. The Mexico ceremony will run for 16 minutes and 30 seconds, while the ceremonies in the United States and Canada will each last 13 minutes.
