'Loud City: Takeover' to honour Ark’s Hasan and protest concert incident

Following the incident involving popular rock band Ark’s lead vocalist Hasan at the “Songs of the Monsoon Revolution” concert in the capital, a new concert has been organised to protest the incident and call for greater respect for artistes.

Titled “Loud City: Takeover”, the concert will be held on September 4 at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium, with Hasan and his band Ark as the headline act.

Hasan faced an unpleasant incident while performing at the “Songs of the Monsoon Revolution” concert at Manik Mia Avenue on August 5, organised to mark July Mass Uprising Day. During his performance, a bottle was thrown at him from the audience. The incident drew condemnation from members of the music community and audiences.

The upcoming concert is being organised by Get Amped Series and Pickup Point Communication. Alongside Ark, seven other acts will perform: Cryptic Fate, Karnival, Level Five, AK Rahul, Black Zang, Metal Error and Achar.

Musician AK Rahul announced the concert on social media, recalling the incident involving Hasan and saying that it had affected the music community. He also said he had contacted Tinku of Ark to express his regret over what happened.

“I had promised that we would organise an event where they could perform and sing in their own way for as long as they wanted. There would be no rush and no restrictions. There would only be the freedom of the artistes and music,” Rahul wrote.

Describing the event as more than a concert, Rahul said it was intended as an expression of love and respect for rock music, its roots and legendary musicians.

The main programme of “Loud City: Takeover” will begin at 2:30pm on September 4, with the gates opening 30 minutes earlier. Advance tickets are already on sale through Tickify.
