‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ debuts with 91% Rotten Tomatoes score
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has swung into theatres to an enthusiastic critical reception, earning a 91% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes as reviewers praised the latest chapter in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man journey.
The film initially debuted with a 93% score on the review aggregation site before settling at 91% as more reviews were added. The rating places it among the highest-reviewed entries in Holland’s Spider-Man series, alongside “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (92%), “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (91%) and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (93%).
Critics have particularly praised Holland’s performance, with many describing it as his strongest portrayal of Peter Parker to date. Early reviews have also highlighted the film’s more grounded, character-driven story, emotional depth and inventive action sequences, with several calling it the best Spider-Man film of the Tom Holland era.
Reviewers also singled out the film’s surprises, its shift away from multiverse-heavy storytelling, and the introduction of Sadie Sink’s mysterious character, whose role has generated significant discussion among audiences.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” follows Peter Parker as he begins a new chapter after the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, in which the world forgot his identity. Alongside Holland, the film stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo.
The film opens in Bangladesh and India on July 30, a day ahead of its wider international release on July 31.
