Arts & Entertainment Desk

The indefinite strike in Tollywood has finally been withdrawn by artistes and technicians. The strike was initially called over a decision not to work with the production house Magic Moments.

The decision to withdraw the strike came after a day-long meeting held on Tuesday at Technician’s Studio. Discussions continued throughout the day. Artistes and technicians agreed that they would not work with the production house until safety is ensured.

After the meeting, Prosenjit Chatterjee said that there will be no strike from the next day. However, he added that the production house will remain banned from the industry until a proper investigation is conducted into the death of Rahul Arunoday Banerjee and the truth comes out.

Following Rahul’s death, the project “Bhole Baba Par Karega” has already been shut down. The shooting of the serial “Chirosokha”, which was ongoing, will also remain suspended for now. The production house is also involved in a Hindi serial. Artistes and technicians have also decided not to work on projects associated with writer Leena Gangopadhyay for the time being.

Speaking to the media, Prosenjit said that the decision was taken together with producers from television and Bengali cinema. He added that this is a historic decision that people will remember for many years. He also said that the credit goes to Rahul, whose death united everyone in the industry.

Many prominent personalities were present at the meeting. These included Priyanka Sarkar, Ranjit Mallick, Dev, Rituparna Sengupta, Koel Mallick, Sreelekha Mitra, Srabanti Chatterjee, Subhashree Ganguly, Koushani Mukherjee, Sudipta Chakraborty, Rahul Mazumdar, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Soumitrisha Kundu and Piya Sengupta, among others.
