A new web film titled “Sarar Sangsar”, starring Sadia Islam Mou in the lead role, is set to premiere on OTT platform iScreen during Eid-ul-Azha.

Directed by Aka Reza Ghalib, the web film is based on the novel “Artanad” by renowned writer Kazi Anower Hossain. The platform officially announced the release by unveiling the film’s first-look poster on Thursday evening.

Although the original novel was set in the 1970s, the adaptation has been modernised to suit the present time. The screenplay was written by Masuma Maimur, daughter-in-law of Kazi Anower Hossain. The project has been produced by Impress Telefilm.

Director Aka Reza Ghalib said the film combines family drama with psychological suspense, offering viewers a different cinematic experience.

“While the story is rooted in a family setting, ‘Sarar Sangsar’ also contains a strong thriller element. Some character names and plot details were adjusted to make the story more relevant to contemporary audiences, and everything was done in consultation with Kazi Anower Hossain’s family,” he said.

In the film, Mou plays the role of a mother named Sara, around whom the story revolves. The plot follows a dramatic turn after Sara accidentally kills her daughter’s secret lover one night. Fearing social stigma and scandal if the truth comes out, she attempts to conceal the incident and dispose of the body. However, complications arise when police begin investigating the disappearance.

The cast also includes Gazi Rakayet, Rashed Mamun Apu, Nafis Ahmed, Nafisa Maliat Promi, and Ehtesham Ahmed Tinku, among others.

Speaking about the adaptation, Ghalib noted that many readers primarily associate Kazi Anower Hossain with the popular Masud Rana series, but said the author had written many other compelling stories as well.

“This is one of those stories. It has family conflict, suspense, and emotional tension. Altogether, it will be an engaging experience for audiences. Mou has delivered an outstanding performance in the title role,” the director added.
