BTS to return with new album in March
Global K-pop phenomenon BTS is set to make its long-awaited full-group comeback this spring, with a new album scheduled for release on March 20, 2026. The upcoming project will mark the group's first album in nearly four years, following their 2022 anthology release "Proof".
The news was first reported by South Korean media outlets at the start of the new year and later confirmed by BTS's agency, BigHit Music, through a post on its official Korean-language X (formerly Twitter) account.
The album will be BTS's first group release since the members began a hiatus to complete South Korea's mandatory military service. During this period, all seven members pursued solo activities, releasing individual albums and projects that showcased their distinct musical identities while maintaining a strong connection with their global fanbase, ARMY.
Even before the official confirmation, BTS had hinted at the comeback in a uniquely personal way. Selected fans reportedly received handwritten letters from the members, each bearing the date "2026.3.20", sparking widespread speculation that was later proven true.
In the messages, leader RM described the comeback as a moment he had been "waiting for more desperately than anyone." Jin reflected on his recent solo years, writing, "I greeted you all as a soloist in 2023 and 2024, but I can finally greet you as part of a team again." J-Hope expressed his excitement by saying, "Finally, it's the year that we will all be together with you!!" Jungkook added, "Please take good care of us this year as well."
The group also reunited publicly to take part in a New Year's countdown event on the fan platform Weverse, further fueling anticipation for their return.
With their reunion now officially underway, BTS's March comeback is shaping up to be one of the most significant music events of 2026, both in South Korea and on the global stage.
