Going International

Jaya has achieved everything that the world of television in Bangladesh has to offer. She was not a sudden strike to the industry either. Steady as a stream growing over time, she has been in the business for a while and has improved with each and every production she undertook. I think that amongst all her contemporaries, Jaya was much further ahead in almost all the respects. So what's next? The obvious next step is making movies. Her debut in the movie industry has been a wonderful thing. Because she always chose to act in both alternative and mainstream films and shined in both. She has also done an incredibly smart thing. She has chosen to achieve all she could from television before completely cutting herself out of it and starting to appear in films. This way, she was both fresh to movies and fully dedicated and had enough time on her hands to maintain a balance between alternative and mainstream films. Many people worry that a mainstream actor can't do well in alternative movies and vice versa. In fact, this is a debate Jaya faces from some directors in the mainstream industry who try to limit her movie choices. But if you ask me, I find this logic completely baseless. Jaya is, first and foremost, an actor. Her job is to embrace her role and portray her story and captivate the audience – which she does with absolute confidence and finesse. Many actors try to reach into other continents to make their mark and this is something she has done as well. With her debut in the Kolkata movie industry with the movie 'Aborto', she has already become a known celebrity there. And now that she has been cast for a movie by the famous Kolkata director Shrijeet, it is quite evident that she has been accepted by the Kolkata audience as well. This, as a Bangladeshi, makes me very proud of Jaya Ahsan indeed. We wish her all the best and will eagerly wait to observe her continuous rise up the ladder of fame and stardom.
