REMEMBERING JUBODA

The one thing I hate writing most are obituaries. Especially when it's about someone I knew closely; that too, under the banner of 'Living with the Stars'.Khaled Khan Juboraj -known to those close to him as Juboda.Who we choose to cover on Star Showbiz is a reflection of a philosophy, since Star Showbiz is your window to Bangladesh's world of films, television productions, music and celebrities. And it's even more difficult to find male personalities to feature on the cover. If Juboda has not taken ill and was not paralyzed, he would have definitely been featured on the cover of Star Showbiz by now. One of the few people who would echo my views and analysis of what's happening in the media, television and filmmaking sectors was Juboda. He was astute and pragmatic. But to me, he was more than an associate, he was a friend. One of my character flaws is that I remember people in their best form, in their prime. That's how I like remembering them. I don't want those memories to be marred by their sufferings. So over time, as Juboda became more and more physically weak, my interactions with him had lessened;from once a month, to once every few months, to once a year. I had not even met him once this year. I don't like how people approach death, with a lot of negativity and dark thoughts. I believe life is only beautiful because someday life will not exist. Although I'm sure many of you will not agree, I believe that death can be celebrated too. Celebrated not because the person has passed away, but in remembrance of the lives he had touched in his life; because of the thousands of people who had hung on to his every word, and the millions who remember his face. I am not saddened because Juboda has passed away; but I am saddened because he has passed away too soon. Fifty seven is just about middle age. Once upon a time, me, Juboda and Shampa Reza were inseparable – we were best buddies. Our interactions are fresh in my mind even today. And that is how I want to keep remembering Juboda.
Today's issue of Star Showbiz brings you five most talked about Bangladeshi celebrities this year, and their gala events which have captivated us. Although we wish we could write about more than just five – we always have to work within our space constraints. If you think another celebrity or another event deserved to be part of these, if you feel we've missed something, log on to our facebook page (facebook.com/SHOWBIZ.TDS)and let us know!
