Issues and comments
1. Justice delayed, justice denied: Cases of VIPs and the rich in courts are attended quickly, but those of poor and common people are handled slowly.
2. B. Chowdhury wants national govt: Would any political leader, including B. Chowdhury himself , kindly sacrifice his own interest and recommend the name of any other political leader or person to head the national govt and thus arrive at a consensus before the 2008 election?
3. Zebra crossing: DMP always requests the pedestrians to use the zebra crossing. Would DMP tell us how many zebra crossings are there and where are they in Dhaka?
4. Garment workers and Bangladeshi expatriates: They are poor and illiterate but they earn millions of dollars for garment owners, manpower recruiting agents and our govt. Why don't they get salaries for their hard work, sweat and blood?
5. Taxi/CNG drivers: Most of them refuse to carry the passengers on various pretexts. When we lodge a complaint and seek help from traffic police sergeants and police constables, the law enforcing agencies remain silent. Why so?
6. Weekly holiday: Two days weekly holiday on Friday and Saturday or 3 three days weekly holiday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on account of closure of all diplomatic missions, foreign organisations, international trade and commerce and banking on Sunday. The sufferings of the members of public know no bounds due to rush of a large number of people, heavy crowd in govt offices, banks, hospitals, post offices and commercial establishments and simultaneous road traffic jams on the last weekly working day on Thursday and the first working day on Monday.
Would our govt. do something to mitigate the sufferings of the people?
7. Pajero jeep worth Taka 26 lakh for UNO: A Pajero jeep costs Taka 26 lakh for an UNO. What would be the price of a govt transport for a govt officer of a higher rank and status, say DC, Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary and Secretary and what about protocol?
