Waterway workers go on strike

Staff Correspondent
Water transport workers started their work abstention from early today for an indefinite period across the country to press home their 16-point demand, including revision of their wage structure. Shah Alam, vice president of Bangladesh Noujan Sramik Federation, claimed this while talking to The Daily Star in the early hours. Their other demands include ensuring the workers' security on waterways, maintaining navigability of rivers and a diplomatic initiative for permission to land on Indian territory.
