Cop beat up boy
A police official beat up a boy and handcuffed him "mistakenly" during a rescue operation of another kidnapped boy at Seroil Colony in the city yesterday.
Maruf Hossain Anik, 8, a student of class V at Surjokona School, got slight lip bleeding at the beating, said Rajshahi City Corporation Ward No 19 Councilor Nuruzzaman Tito.
Later, agitating locals kept Sub-Inspector (SI) Hamidul Islam confined to the councilor's office for half-an-hour.
Earlier, Shah Makhdum police yesterday evening rescued Rafi, 7, kidnapped from Hat Nawdapara Govt Primary School around 1:30pm.
Denying the allegation SI Hamidul said, “He might have injured following draggingâ€.
