Punishment for culprits sought
Speakers at a human chain yesterday demanded an exemplary punishment for the rapists and killers of a ten-year-old girl who was found dead in a bathroom of Tropicana Tower in the capital on Saturday.
The students and teachers of two schools in Segunbagicha area formed the human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
They alleged that the law enforcers are not so active to bring the criminals to justice as the girl is not from an influential family.
Local lawmakers Rashed Khan Menon and Communist Party of Bangladesh President Mujahidul Islam Selim also spoke at the programme.
Dhaka Medical College morgue sources said, the girl Ritu was raped and killed as her throat was slit with sharp weapons. However, police arrested six persons on Saturday night in this regard.
