Bangladesh is known for its natural beauty with the longest sea beach of Cox's Bazar, the largest mangrove forests of the Sundarbans and the greenery of the Hill tracts. In addition to these spots there are other venues that can attract the tourists. In spite of having so many spots with immense potential for tourism, the country lags behind other Asian countries, say, Thailand or Malaysia. What we lack is aggressive advertisement and marketing that could lure the foreigners to this land. We have failed to brand our country whereas Malaysia has so successfully launched its advertisement campaign to attract the tourists. Again we have few world-class hotels, with the exception of Cox's Bazar, around the tourist destinations. Tourism can be a turned into a sector that will bring foreign exchange. More efforts should be made to promote this sector. Time has come to portray the country as a beautiful one --not just the land of floods and cyclones.
