Success of women cricketers
The all-round success of our women's team against the visiting Hong Kong Women XI is a tonic for us; more so after the rout of our men's cricket team by South Africa. Congratulations to our lady cricketers for a well deserved victory. We hope to see them do better and better in future. Maybe they should arrange matches with the South African women's team if possible this summer.
I believe the reason behind the women team's success is that their activities are of low key; with more action than talks. They are not as hyped and swollen-headed as our male cricketers. In reality, they are pygmies, when compared to most cricket teams! A few chancy successes have gone to their head. Now they have nothing to show but past deeds, overshadowed by words of excuses and many "ifs" and "buts". The famous words, "the past is all lies, the present the truth and the future a dream" need to be drilled into them along with a sense of humility and uncompromising hard training if the men's team wants to achieve anything.
Our men's national cricket team ought to be ashamed of what their sisters could do, and which they miserably failed to do in real competition. They may take on Ireland, maybe Maldives to satisfy their ego and inflate their false sense of pride! So much for their sorry level of competitiveness where it really counts! Maybe, it is probably time to think and put our Test status on hold!
