Acid throwing
Acid throwing is one of the worst crimes. It has to be tackled in the strongest possible way and rooted out once and for all. But in spite of punishments prescribed in our penal codes, the situation has not improved. I suggest each and every incident of acid throwing be investigated at length and each and everybody involved in procuring, selling, abetting and throwing be arrested one by one, then grilled and prosecuted, instead of the thrower alone. Same punishments must be awarded to each of them, irrespective of sex and at the same time heavy compensations should be paid to the victims by the offenders as per ruling of the court. The occurrences along with judgements must also be publicised in detail through the media. In other words, it should be nipped in the bud by destroying the sources. May I also draw the kind attention of the I.G.P. and Metropolitan Police Commissioner on the above. It appears they are sincerely trying to reform the police administration, earn public confidence and regain the lost image. It is a blessing for the nation because changes can be noticed when you visit any police station in the city.
