3 hurt in clash over land dispute

At least three people were injured in a clash over a land dispute in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur yesterday.

The injured persons were Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, 55, his brother Abdus Salam, 50, and Md Sajal Mondal, 27.

Phulbari Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shafiqul Islam said there was a dispute over 1.5-acre land between Anwar Hossain Chowdhury and Sajal Mondal.

Yesterday, the two men got into a fight over the longstanding dispute. At one point, they attacked each other, leaving three persons injured. Informed, police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

Tension was running high in the area as Anwar and Sajal both held local posts of BNP and AL respectively, said locals.

The injured were admitted to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex.
