Four more national maritime institutes are being established in Kurigram, Rajshahi, Dinajpur, and Meherpur to create skilled human resources in the shipping sector, said State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury today.

He said a national maritime institute has already been set up in Madaripur under the supervision of the National Maritime Institute, Chittagong. The new maritime institute (Madaripur) will be opened soon, where a total of 600 people can receive training a year under two batches -- 300 under each batch.

The state minister said this while addressing the farewell ceremony of the 25th batch of National Maritime Institute, Chittagong in Chattogrtam.

He said the country is moving on its journey from a developing country to a developed country and the shipping sector can play an important role in this transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

So, the agencies concerned including training institutes have tirelessly been working to create skilled human resources in the shipping sector.
