Pierce Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan

could only wear suits as James Bond!

Pierce Brosnan, the Irish actor who is well known for his portrayal of James Bond, was contractually forbidden from wearing a full tuxedo in any non-James Bond movie from 1995-2002. Brosnan's appointment as Bond brought things full circle for the actor, who stated in interviews that the very first movie he ever saw was Goldfinger and that Sean Connery's performance as Bond inspired him to enter show business. Aware of the danger of being typecast as James Bond, Brosnan asked to be allowed to work in other projects between Bond series films. The request was granted, and for every Bond series film, Brosnan appeared in at least two mainstream films, including several he had produced, but he was contractually forbidden to wear a full tuxedo in any of these other films. Brosnan played James Bond in four films, starting with 1995's Golden Eye, and following on with 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies, 1999's The World Is Not Enough, and 2002's Die Another Day.
