FIFA has confirmed Bangladesh's participation in the FIFA ASEAN Cup, scheduled to be held from September 24 to October 4 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

A Bangladesh Football Federation official confirmed the news following a meeting of the executive committee on Saturday.

“We had applied to FIFA to participate in the tournament. Last night (Friday), we received a positive response, and then we also sent our confirmation,” Amirul Islam Babu, BFF media committee chairman, told reporters following an executive committee meeting.

The tournament will be held from September 24 to October 4, with Bangladesh pitted in Group A alongside hosts Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Group B features Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Pakistan.

The BFF executive committee member informed that they would call for a national team camp very soon, upon discussion with head coach Thomas Dooley.

Bangladesh are entering at last-minute replacement for India, who chose to withdraw due to clash with other international assignments.
