15pc VAT from July next year

Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said that the government would impose 15 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) from July, 2016.

The decision was made at a meeting between the finance minister and the visiting mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Dhaka this afternoon.

The finance minister said that the IMF has decided to disburse $280 million in two installments of its Extended Credit Facility (ECF) loan at a time to Bangladesh by June 22 this year.
