At least 22 people were killed and 15 injured as a bus collided with a truck in northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh today, domestic media reported.

The diesel tank of the bus exploded after the collision on Bareilly bypass which led to a fire around 1:00 am, our New Delhi correspondent reports.

Fire fighters reached as soon as possible but the flames were so high that it took a lot of effort to actually douse the flames and reach inside, local media quoted SK Bhagat, senior police officer as saying.

The bodies are badly burned in the fire, he added.
