Runa-Bappa’s first-ever Bangla ghazal duet ‘Onayashey’ releases
Legendary singer Runa Laila has teamed up with celebrated Bangladeshi musician Bappa Mazumder for the release of a new Bengali ghazal titled “Onayashey”. Written by Galib Hasan, the song has been composed and arranged by Bappa Mazumder.
The song premiered on Bappa Mazumder’s YouTube channel on May 16 at 9 pm. To celebrate the release, a launch event was held later that evening at a club in Banani, Dhaka. The programme was hosted by singer Konal.
Speaking at the event, Bappa described the experience of singing alongside Runa Laila as a dream come true. He said he had grown up listening to her songs and considered it a great honour that she agreed to perform a composition arranged by him. Sharing the microphone with such an iconic artiste, he added, was both emotional and deeply inspiring.
Runa Laila praised the lyrics and composition of “Onayashey”, calling it a beautifully crafted Bengali ghazal. She also commended Bappa for his dedication and perfectionism as a music director, noting that such attention to detail is essential in creating quality music. The singer further paid tribute to Bappa’s late parents for their immense contribution to Bangladeshi music.
Earlier this month, Runa Laila received the ‘Minar-E-Dilli’ award at the 15th International Film Festival held in Delhi. She is also set to perform in the upcoming Eid edition of the popular BTV programme “Ananda Mela”.
