Film Fiesta Take 05 to spotlight short films and independent cinema in Dhaka
The fifth edition of Film Fiesta Take 05 is set to take place on May 15 at Alliance Française de Dhaka, bringing together filmmakers, critics, students, and cinema enthusiasts for a day centred on short films and cinematic discussions.
Organised by Film Fiesta, the event will feature six official films alongside three special screenings, highlighting experimental storytelling, cultural reflection, folklore, and diverse cinematic forms.
Founded in 2024, Film Fiesta has emerged as a platform supporting emerging filmmakers and independent cinematic voices in Bangladesh through regular screenings and discussions focused on the evolving philosophy of cinema.
This year’s edition carries the theme “Myths We Heard, Truths We Live”, reflecting on folklore, memory, and docufiction. According to the organisers, the festival aims to revisit inherited narratives and explore how folklore continues to shape identity, memory, and lived experience in contemporary society.
The event will also include conversations and interactive sessions with distinguished panelists, including filmmaker Ashraf Shishir and writer Sadiq Khalid Reeti, who will discuss cinema, storytelling, and independent film culture.
In a statement shared by the organisers, Film Fiesta noted, “Stories passed from generation to generation are more than entertainment; they are repositories of belief, resistance, and imagination. Stories are not just stories; they are the essence of our lives.”
Although film submissions for the festival have officially closed, organisers have invited audiences to attend the screenings and discussions through tickets available on the festival’s official channels.
Alliance Française de Dhaka is supporting this year’s edition as part of its continued engagement with independent arts and cultural exchange initiatives in Bangladesh.
