Search for next James Bond officially begins
Amazon MGM Studios has officially confirmed that the search for the next James Bond is underway, marking the clearest sign yet that the franchise is moving forward following Daniel Craig’s departure from the role.
In a statement shared on X, the studio wrote, “The search for the next James Bond is underway.”
The studio added, “While we don’t intend to comment on specific details throughout the casting process, we look forward to sharing more updates with 007 fans when the time is right.”
The announcement comes years after “No Time to Die”, which marked Craig’s final appearance as the iconic British spy.
According to Variety, Amazon MGM Studios has recently begun holding auditions, with casting director Nina Gold reportedly playing a key role in identifying Craig’s successor.
The upcoming “James Bond” film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with Steven Knight attached to write the screenplay. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing the project, while Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer.
Speaking at CinemaCon, Amazon MGM Studios head of film Courtenay Valenti said the studio is approaching the franchise with caution and respect.
“We’re taking the time to handle this carefully and honour the legacy,” Valenti said, adding that the combination of the franchise and its creative team is helping shape a film worthy of the James Bond name.
Even before the official announcement, speculation surrounding the next Bond actor had intensified. According to Screen Rant, names such as Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson have frequently surfaced as possible contenders.
Reports that auditions are now underway have also fuelled speculation that the studio could opt for a relatively lesser-known actor instead of an established Hollywood star.
Gold is widely recognised for her work on major productions, including “Game of Thrones”, where she helped assemble the ensemble cast featuring Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, and Peter Dinklage.
Her credits also include “The Crown”, several “Star Wars” films, “The Martian”, and “Les Misérables”. She has also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Casting.
Although the casting process has officially begun, Amazon MGM Studios has yet to announce a release date for the next “James Bond” film.
