Nachiketa conferred Banga Bibhushan, Parambrata receives Banga Bhushan

On International Mother Language Day, the government of West Bengal, India announced the recipients of the Banga Samman awards. This year, a host of distinguished figures from the fields of music and entertainment were conferred the Banga Bibhushan and Banga Bhushan honours by the state government.

On February 21, marking International Mother Language Day, a distinguished group of personalities from the worlds of music and entertainment were conferred the Banga Bibhushan and Banga Bhushan honours. Notably, actor Parambrata Chatterjee received the Banga Bhushan this year.

For their exceptional contribution to music, the Banga Bibhushan was awarded to Nachiketa Chakraborty, Shibaji Chattopadhyay, Sreeradha Bandyopadhyay, Iman Chakraborty and Lopamudra Mitra, along with singer-turned-politician Babul Supriyo. The list also includes painter Ganesh Haloi and poet Srijato Bandyopadhyay.

Alongside Parambrata, the Banga Bhushan was conferred upon singers Manomay Bhattacharya, Raghab Chatterjee and Rupankar Bagchi. Kartik Das Baul and Aditi Munshi also received the same honour.
