Irfan Sajjad starrer ‘Ali’ to premiere on Bongo after Eid
The film “Ali”, starring actor Irfan Sajjad, is set to release on an OTT platform following its theatrical run.
Streaming platform Bongo announced that the movie will begin streaming from the day after Eid-ul-Fitr. The film was previously released in cinemas on July 18 last year.
“Ali” tells the story of a man with autism and his sister, highlighting their emotional bond and the struggles they face. Irfan Sajjad plays the role of a speech-impaired character in the film and communicates entirely through sign language throughout the narrative.
To prepare for the role, the actor reportedly paused other professional commitments and spent four months training before filming began in order to convincingly portray the character.
The story follows Roshni, a young woman who dreams of studying in Dhaka and becoming independent. Her brother Ali, however, fears the dangers of city life and wants to protect her from its uncertainties. After a tragic accident separates the siblings, Ali begins a difficult journey of survival while enduring hardship, isolation and injustice. Despite the challenges, he refuses to give up, while Roshni continues searching for her brother and waits for his return.
The film features actress Protigga as Roshni. Other cast members include Tashdik Nomira Ahmed, Misha Sawdagor, Kazi Hayat, Shatabdi Wadud and Shaukat Sajal.
The film is directed by Biplob Hayder, who previously collaborated with Irfan Sajjad on the film “Vhoyal”, which marked the actor’s return to the big screen in 2024.
