Investors sue Selena Gomez and Wondermind, alleging fraud and broken promises
A group of investors has filed a lawsuit against singer and actress Selena Gomez and her mother, alleging fraud and breach of contract tied to Wondermind, Gomez's mental health startup, which the complaint says quietly collapsed over three years while investors were kept in the dark.
According to a report by TechCrunch on the matter, the plaintiffs say they invested nearly $1.2 million in the startup and are accusing Gomez of securities fraud and breach of contract, alleging she failed to deliver on commitments and did not market the company after promising to do so. Wondermind launched in 2021 with the aim of offering daily mental health resources to users, adds the report.
The complaint, first reported by Forbes, is pointed in its language. "Gomez purported to sign a contract obligating her to perform and then ignored it," it reads. "The partnerships did not exist. The initiatives never materialised. The app was never built. And for three years, while the company quietly collapsed around them, not one of its founders, officers, or directors said a word to the investors whose money was funding the collapse."
The investors say they were unaware of the company's troubles until a September 2025 report from The Cut. Wondermind did not respond to TechCrunch for a request for comment.
