Gulshan Youth Club emerged champions of the Dhaka Second Division Cricket League 2025-26 despite suffering a 79-run defeat to Dhaka Mariner Youngs in their final league match at PKSP-2 on Monday.

Gulshan had already secured the title in their penultimate match after defeating North Bengal Cricket Academy by 94 runs. They finished the tournament with 18 points from 11 matches.

Young Pegasus Club-A also ended with 18 points after beating Sadharan Bima Corporation by six wickets in their final league game. However, Gulshan were declared champions as they had defeated Pegasus in their head-to-head encounter during the league phase, which determined the standings according to the tournament bylaws.

Jober Hossain Nirjon of Dhaka Wanderers Club finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer, amassing 538 runs from 11 innings at an average of 48.91. Friends United Cricketers’ Atik Hasan claimed the most wickets, taking 24 at an economy rate of 4.26.

Wahiduzzaman Tomal, president of Gulshan Youth Club; Mehadi Hasan, the club’s general secretary; Jahid Hossain, coordinator of the Dhaka Second Division Cricket League; and BCB match referee Niaz Morshed Nahid were present at the closing ceremony, where they handed the trophy and a Tk four lakh prize cheque to Gulshan players and coaching staff.

This year, only 12 of the 24 clubs took part in the competition after the remaining teams boycotted the league in protest against the legitimacy of the current board. As a result, the relegation league did not take place and the boycotting clubs were automatically relegated.
