Stitching a smarter future
Technological advancement is a cornerstone of the BUFT experience. The campus offers campus-wide internet connectivity, modern computing facilities, and digital learning platforms that prepare students for digital workplaces.
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) has redefined higher education in Bangladesh through its modern permanent campus in Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka. Established in 2012 by the BGMEA, this purpose-built facility integrates academic excellence with industry relevance, creating a dynamic environment where students prepare for an increasingly interconnected, knowledge-driven world.
The campus supports a multidisciplinary academic ecosystem with 43 programs across five faculties. The infrastructure features spacious smart classrooms equipped with modern teaching technologies that encourage interactive learning. To bridge the gap between theory and practice, BUFT provides specialised laboratories, engineering workshops, design studios, sewing and CAD laboratories, merchandising labs, and architecture studios. These innovation spaces are central to the university’s project-based learning philosophy. Complementing these is a modern library offering extensive printed and digital resources, research journals, and technology-enabled services conducive to scholarly exploration and independent study.
Technological advancement is a cornerstone of the BUFT experience. The campus offers campus-wide internet connectivity, modern computing facilities, and digital learning platforms that prepare students for digital workplaces. Furthermore, BUFT’s unique industry linkage, which is rooted in its foundation by the apex trade body for the ready-made garment sector, ensures students gain practical exposure through internships, live projects, and industrial visits. This global outlook is bolstered by over 50 international academic collaborations and a multicultural student body representing more than six countries.
Student wellbeing and holistic development are prioritised through comprehensive facilities. The university supports 23 active clubs, fostering leadership in areas like innovation, debate, and social service. The campus life is enriched by a modern cafeteria, a fully equipped gymnasium, a swimming pool, and dedicated indoor games rooms for table tennis, chess, and carrom. Practical needs are met with a dedicated medical centre, safe hostel facilities for female students, and an extensive transportation fleet of over 50 buses serving numerous routes across Dhaka.
Environmental sustainability is also integrated into the campus design, featuring green open spaces and landscaped surroundings that promote a responsible learning atmosphere. Supported by over 290 highly qualified faculty members and a network of 17,000 successful alumni, BUFT continues to modernize its infrastructure. By combining cutting-edge facilities with robust industry partnerships, the university remains a truly future-ready institution, equipping graduates to lead in an evolving global economy.
As Bangladesh moves toward an upper-middle-income, knowledge-based economy, BUFT continuously modernises curricula, expands research, and strengthens industry ties to keep graduates future-ready.
