Campaigns for the upcoming election of the Bangladesh Film Directors Association has started at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). The hustle and bustle of the voters and candidates are keeping the venue busy, especially the Board of Directors’ office and canteen premises.

A three-month group art exhibition, “Brihatta Home Art Project 2020”, kicked off at Bengal Shilpalay yesterday. It is jointly organised by Brihatta Art Foundation and Bengal Arts Programme. Tanzim Wahab, Chief Curator, Bengal Arts Programme, is the curator of the exhibition.

On the occasion of Bangladesh’s 50th year of independence and Liberation War Museum’s 25th anniversary on March 22, the museum committee has arranged a series of celebrations this month. They announced their schedule at a press conference held at the Dhaka Reporter’s Unity yesterday.

Noted percussionists Hanif Ahammed and Partha Guha fell victim to a road accident on March 13, 2021. The accident occurred in Chattogram's Mishorai, when a lorry hit their microbus from the opposite side. While Partha died on the spot, Hanif was declared dead in Chattogram Medical College Hospital. The duo had just finished a show in Chandpur, where eminent artistes Imran and Kona also performed. Prominent singers, songwriters, and composers took to social media to express their condolences for the tragic loss.

Artists and art enthusiasts gathered together for the inauguration of Safiuddin Shilpalay at Dhanmondi yesterday. As the name suggests, the establishment commemorates the life and works of Shilpaguru Safiuddin Ahmed.

Organised by Drik, a ten-day photography exhibition, titled “Snippets Behind Bars and Other Related Stories”, is currently underway at the DrikPath Bhobon, Panthapath. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held on March 10. Photojournalists Shafiqul Islam Kajal and Al Mamun Jibon, along with other participants, were present at the ceremony.

Renowned musicians Hanif Ahammed and Partha Guha fell victim to a road accident today (March 13) on their way to a show in Cox’s Bazar.

“Through this initiative, we provide a platform for women to inspire and empower each other. Screening for this particular exhibition’s open-call is never conducted based on artistic skills, as we focus more on the theme interpretations,” shared Aisha Siddiqua, Program Assistant, EMK Center.

A corporate health agreement signing programme between Bangladesh Musical Bands Association (BAMBA) and Universal Medical College Hospital (UMCH), Dhaka, was held yesterday at RAOWA Club Hall 3. Existing BAMBA executives, Hamin Ahmed from Miles (President), Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu from Warfaze (Vice President), Chowdhury Fazle Shakib from Cryptic Fate (Secretary), Kazi Asheqeen Shaju from Artcell (Assistant Secretary), Mohammad Ali Sumon from Pentagon band (Treasurer) were present at the signing event. About a hundred musicians, including Bappa Mazumder, Foad Nasser Babu and Labu Rahman from Feedback, Maqsood from Maqsood O' dHAKA, Naseem Ali Khan from Souls, Syed Hasanur Rahman Hasan from Ark, George Lincoln D'Costa from Artcell, and Shuvro Dev were also in attendance. The corporate agreement was signed by Hamin Ahmed from BAMBA and Dr Ashis Kumar from UMCH. BAMBA currently has 53 members who will be getting priority-based treatment at UMCH. Their family members will also be getting the same medical facility, informs Hamin Ahmed. “I believe that this is the first health agreement for Bangladeshi musicians. We want to make everything independent to us so that our members do not have to suffer any inconveniences in the future,” he adds. "This is one of the many initiatives BAMBA is working on for their members. This particular corporate deal will give the members access to world-class healthcare at a special discounted price,” shared Kazi Asheqeen Shaju. “This time, BAMBA is all about benefits for its members."

National Skills Development Authority (NSDA), a wing under the Prime Minister’s Office, has formally inaugurated a designated council for creative skills training and development, titled ‘Creative Media Industry Skills Council’ (CMISC). The core objective of CMISC is to uplift creative skills, resource creation, and employment generation in the fields of film, theatre, television, radio, music, creative advertising, creative publication, online and offline newspapers, fine arts, folk arts, architecture, fashion, and creative literature, including the interconnected sub-sectors.
