Stars galore at Channel i Music Awards in Bogura
The brightest stars of Bangladesh’s music industry came together under one roof for a grand celebration in the historic region of Bogura, at the elegant five-star hotel and resort Momo Inn. The occasion marked a spectacular gathering of musical talent at the 20th TMSS Channel i Music Awards, held this evening at the venue’s open-air grounds.
The programme commenced with welcome speeches from Channel i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar, Information Minister Zahid Uddin Swapan, and TMSS Founder and Executive Director Dr Hosne Ara Begum.
Actress and filmmaker Afsana Mimi announced veteran singer Kanak Chapa as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Amid warm applause, she was honoured with a ceremonial shawl, crest, and cheque by distinguished guests, including Faridur Reza Sagar, Zahid Uddin Swapan, Dr Hosne Ara Begum, Channel i Director and Head of News Shykh Seraj, Impress Channel i Chairman Abdur Rashid Mazumder, and others.
The Special Honour Award was presented to folk legend Kangalini Sufia, whose name was announced by acclaimed actor and director Afzal Hossain. She too received a crest and cheque from the dignitaries in attendance.
The evening opened with a choral performance by noted artistes Rafiqul Alam, Ferdous Ara, and Anima Roy, alongside Channel i Serakantho and Khude Gaanraj participants, setting a vibrant tone for the evening.
Alongside the awards ceremony, the programme featured a series of performances by artistes including Tanveer Alam Shawjeeb and his troupe, Mehreen and Mahtim Shakib, Khursheed Alam, Bappa Mazumder, Liza, Sabbir, Luipa, Shawkat Hayat Khan, Imran Mahmudul, Kona, Ananya, Beauty, Salma, Atiya Anisha, Shafiq Tuhin, Jhilik, and Kishore. Actors Apu Biswas and Ador Azad also took part in the performances.
Adding to the grandeur, legendary singers Runa Laila and Sabina Yasmin captivated the audience with their performances.
A total of 18 awards were presented across various categories. Among the winners, Liza was named Best Modern Song Artiste for “Khub Priyo Amar”, while Angel Noor won in the YouTube-based modern song category for “Jodi Abar”. Bappa Mazumder received Best Composer (Modern) for “Obosheshe”, and lyricists Tarek Ananda and Shahnaz Kazi were recognised for “Premoboti Maa”.
The band Metrecal won Best Band for “Gonotontrer Ghuri”, with Setu Chowdhury awarded Best Sound Engineer for the same project. Imran Mahmudul and Sinthi Saha won Best Duet for “Prem Bujhi”, while Beauty was named Best Folk Artiste.
In the film category, Atiya Anisha won Best Playback Singer for “Chotto Shona”, with Dilshad Nahar Kona winning the YouTube-based film song category for “Dushtu Kokil”. Shouquat Ali Imon and Rohit Sadhukhan were awarded Best Composer and Best Lyricist respectively in the film category.
Other notable winners included Tanvir Tarek (Best Music Video Director), Shahid Kabir Polash (Best Nazrul Sangeet Artiste), Nashid Kamal (Best Classical Artiste), and emerging artiste Sovvota, who was recognised as Best Newcomer. Bengal Music was named Best Audio Company.
The event, directed by Project Director Raju Alim, was hosted by Apu Mahfuz and Neel Hurerzahan.
Organised with the support of TMSS and several sponsors, the ceremony drew over 250 artistes, performers, and distinguished guests from Dhaka, making it one of the most vibrant musical gatherings of the year.
